Veteran Executive Producer Rob Traill, former Partner and Live Action EP at Detour Films, and seasoned commercial director Tony Benna, former Creative Director at Mekanism, have launched Flesh and Bones. A boutique production company based in Los Angeles, CA and Charleston, SC, the bicoastal studio is focused on commercials, music videos and branded content. The company kicked off earlier with a roster of directors including: Aaron Ray, Bryce Wymer, The Gnar Gnar Honeys, Adam Avilla, and Benna, who was previously represented by Traill at Detour Films.
With an exceptionally eclectic roster offering a wide variety of mediums, from live action to stop-motion to animation, Flesh and Bones is anything but traditional. Rebellion and innovation are, in part, what brought Traill and Benna together. Growing up in the ‘80s and ‘90s on separate coasts, their love for art and filmmaking was sparked in the underground punk basements and DIY skate spots of New Jersey and California. It was within these subcultures they learned freedom of expression and freedom to go against the norm. As Traill explains, “Punk rock taught us rebellion, skate culture taught us innovation, and that is the ethos of our company.”
Since opening their doors, Flesh and Bones has produced and directed projects for Stash, Western Union, Clorox Company, NBH Bank and Google, as well as a handful of music videos for Sony Legacy Recordings and Nuclear Blast Records.
The Flesh and Bones roster of talent consists of director Aaron Ray, previously from Legwork Studios in Denver. Aaron is an animation director, designer, and visual artist with deep roots in illustrative design and character based work; Bryce Wymer, previously repped by The Mill and Detour Films, is a designer, director, visual artist, and illustrator based out of Brooklyn, NY. He develops, designs, and directs within a variety of platforms, ranging from live action and animation projects to interactive to experiential design.
The Gnar Gnar Honeys, a collective of LA-based directors and content creators, are a team of Renaissance women who produce original and branded content with a fresh female perspective. Their mission is to promote diversity and female representation behind and in front of the lens. Director Adam Avilla has been working as a commercial and music video director for the last 12 years in both live action and animation. He started in theater, doing improv and comedy, and marries his love for storytelling and illustration in animation. Director and Founder Tony Benna bridges the gap between live action and stop-motion, allowing him to create visually unique films. His work consists of everything from Super Bowl spots to snackable content.
Driven by the mission to create and disrupt, Flesh and Bones is a collective of misfits, outcasts and risk-takers who push the boundaries of traditional filmmaking and content creation.
