Believe Media and Black Dog director Floria Sigismondi brings her genius for crafting avant-garde, painterly visuals to helm the otherworldly film and print campaign for Thierry Mugler’s latest fragrance, Alien.
Shot in the extravagant Castello di Sammezzano in Tuscany, the story of Alien reveals a model transformed from a dark statue into a golden goddess by a shaft of sunlight beaming down into the heart of the ancient castle. Set to “Brennisteinn” by Sigur Ros (for whom Sigismondi directed the video “Leaning Towards Solace”), the atmospheric song charges on as the moment of transformation brilliantly unfolds. Editorial was handled by jumP‘s Richard Cooperman, following up their recent collaboration for Floria’s stunning fashion film for NewbarK.
The film was released with a bonus behind-the-scenes clip that unveils the intricate couture of the white organza and aluminum gown. Inspired by a Thierry Mugler couture creation, the new-generation sheath was woven with LED lights and optical fibers to literally make it glow from the inside.
