After teasing us with a series of brief, cryptic clips this week, Black Dog Films delivers a :30 second spot to announce what is undoubtedly the COOLEST collaboration ever. French electronic music legends Daft Punk continue their quest for world domination with the release of their new record Random Access Memories, forgoing the usual music/brand endorsement routes (soda, headphones, etc.) Instead, Daft Punk gets their own CUSTOMIZED FORUMULA ONE RACECAR emblazoned with their image.
The brilliantly mysterious teasers directed by Jonas Âkerlund and edited by fellow Black Dogger Christian Larson have baited viewers all week, sparking rumors and collectively raising the fandom’s blood pressure in the way only Daft Punk news can. The release of Friday’s :30 second spot confirmed the duo’s partnership with British Formula One racing team Lotus F1 and revved the Internet up with tantamount force. With perfect timing, the clips were released in the days leading up to the racing’s most high-profile event: the Monaco Grand Prix, watched by over 100 million people worldwide.
As for Lotus F1 this weekend, with a racecar emblazoned with Daft Punk’s image, how could you not #Getlucky?
